Edit images with natural language

The Grok image editor interprets language in relation to an uploaded source. The source can establish identity, product shape, camera position, environment, lighting, or layout. Useful Grok image editing instructions identify which evidence matters and which part should change. “Make it better” provides no reliable target; “keep the bottle and camera unchanged, replace only the background” creates a reviewable instruction.

Imagine2 V1 accepts one JPEG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB in Edit mode. Selecting a file while signed out creates a local browser preview. It is uploaded only after Google sign-in and explicit generation confirmation. Private preview and download routes verify ownership before returning stored media.

To edit an image with a prompt, use this practical structure: keep the unchanged elements, change the target to a new state, then preserve identity, composition, light, text, or background as needed. Put preservation instructions before secondary style details. If the desired change should affect lighting naturally, avoid contradictory demands such as asking every pixel outside the target to remain identical.

For people, describe whether face, expression, pose, hairstyle, and camera crop must remain stable. For products, preserve silhouette, logo placement, label geometry, viewing angle, and reflections when they matter. For environments, distinguish between replacing a background and rebuilding the entire scene.

Use text generation when no existing image needs to survive. Use editing when the source already contains a valuable subject, composition, or product. Imagine2 provides general natural-language editing. Region masks, segmentation, and transparent-background controls are not currently available, so those controls stay out of the interface.

Compare the result directly with the source. Check whether identity, product proportions, important text, and background geometry changed unexpectedly. Look for new artifacts around edited boundaries and verify that an apparently small change did not alter a legally or commercially important detail.

Generated edits are drafts, not evidence. Obtain permission for personal images, avoid deceptive impersonation, and do not use the tool for prohibited sexualization, identity documents, fraud, or removal of provenance. Delete sensitive sources when the task is complete instead of relying only on automatic expiration.
